Feeling a little lost in the woods when it comes to buying or selling U.P. land? Trevor St. John helps clients understand the opportunities, challenges, and overlooked qualities of rural property so they can make confident decisions as buyers, sellers, and landowners. Born and raised in the Upper Peninsula to a family with deep roots in forestry and logging, Trevor and his wife are now raising their five children on their wooded property near Escanaba. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry from Michigan Technological University, brings more than a decade of professional forestry and land-management experience to his real estate practice, and is driven by a desire to make meaningful connections between people and the land beneath their feet. Trevor helps manage more than 30,000 acres of privately owned timberland across the central U.P. and has spent years helping individual landowners understand and manage the forests surrounding their camps, homesteads, and hunting properties. This experience has given him a practical understanding of forest and land values, property taxes, leases, access, ownership challenges, and the long-term decisions that come with owning rural property. His background also includes extensive experience with Michigan’s Commercial Forest and Qualified Forest programs and firsthand knowledge of diverse forest types and rural properties throughout the Upper Peninsula. Trevor specializes in recreational and vacant land, camps and cottages, timber investments, waterfront property, and rural residential properties. He particularly enjoys working with people who are new to land ownership or U.P. living, as well as families, heirs, and out-of-town owners who need help understanding property they have inherited or are preparing to sell. His approach is friendly, candid, and informative. Trevor takes time to understand what a property means to each client. He enjoys answering detailed questions, investigating unknowns, and helping clients identify practical options for each challenge or opportunity. Besides real estate and raising his family, Trevor enjoys rifle hunting, cross-country skiing, and tending the fruit orchard and vineyard on his property. When not in the woods, you might find him playing the bodhrán—an Irish drum—in a Celtic folk band alongside his wife, who plays the fiddle. Whether you are searching for your own piece of the U.P. or wondering what to do with land you already own, call Trevor for a friendly, informative conversation about your questions, your options, and the path ahead.
