Delta County

Delta County is located in the central part of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and is neighbor to MarquetteAlgerSchoolcraft and Menominee Counties. Delta County has a population of 36,905 as of 2013 and spans over 1,992 sq. miles. The City of Escanaba is the largest city in Delta County consisting of 12,616 people as of 2014. Some other areas in Delta County include; Gladstone, Rapid River, Bark River, Fayette, Garden, etc.

Delta County has over 200 miles of shoreline on Lake Michigan where you can enjoy many recreational water activities. This area is also part of the Hiawatha National Forest which is a great place to hike and camp. If you are interested in Upper Peninsula history then the Fayette Historical Town in Garden would be a great visit. This once industrial town now has 20 museum structures that will take you back in time. Delta County is also home to the UP State Fair. The fair is usually held in August and is a week long full of fun activities. The week long festivities have included; concerts, carnival rides, animal exhibits, car show, circus, demo derby and much more. If speed is more your style then the Bark River International Races is a stop that you need to make. These off road races compete on a 1.5 mile track that can result in speeds over 90 mph.

Also within Delta county are bays where the fishing is outstanding. Little and Big Bay De Noc are known for their Lake Michigan walleye, northern pike and smallmouth bass. With the varieties of fish in this area, you will be able to try your luck year round.
