Jack brings decades of experience in forestry, land management, timberland, and Upper Peninsula real estate to Northern Michigan Land Brokers.
Jack earned his Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Michigan Technological University before beginning his career in Michigan’s Eastern Upper Peninsula. He later earned a Master of Business Administration from Lake Superior State University and obtained his Michigan Real Estate Broker’s License, combining his forestry background with business and real estate expertise.
Throughout his career, Jack held leadership positions in the forestry, land management, and real estate industries, including Head Wood Procurement Manager for the Mead Paper mill and Land Asset Manager for Plum Creek. In these roles, he was responsible for timber procurement, sustainable forest management, and the acquisition, management, and sale of tens of thousands of acres of Upper Peninsula timberland. He has participated in more than 500 real estate transactions involving properties across 13 of the Upper Peninsula’s 15 counties.
After returning to Newberry with his wife, Patty, Jack returned to his forestry and real estate roots. Today, as an Associate Broker with Northern Michigan Land Brokers, he enjoys helping buyers and sellers with recreational, timberland, rural, waterfront, and investment properties throughout the Upper Peninsula.
Jack’s background gives clients a practical, boots-on-the-ground perspective on land values, timber potential, wildlife habitat, property improvements, recreational opportunities, and long-term ownership considerations. He is also knowledgeable about Michigan’s Commercial Forest (CFA) and Qualified Forest Program (QFP), helping clients understand the tax benefits, management requirements, and long-term opportunities these programs can provide.
With a lifetime of professional experience dedicated to Upper Peninsula land, Jack is a trusted and proven resource for buyers and sellers seeking knowledgeable guidance from someone who understands both the land and local real estate market.
